Chinese Gem Packs explained

Chinese Gem Packs explained

Gem Packs are a Simplified Chinese booster product built for collectors rather than players. Here is what you are actually getting.

The box

From Volume 3 onward a Gem Pack box holds 18 packs of 4 cards, 72 cards in total. Every single card in the box is holographic, including the commons. There are no filler cards.

What is in each pack

Each pack has a fixed structure: a Poké Ball reverse holo, an Energy reverse holo or Master Ball holo, a one-star or square holo, and a flex slot that can be any rarity up to the top tier. That structure is why opening Gem Packs feels different from a standard booster box: you are guaranteed holo pulls in every pack and the top rarities land often enough to keep it exciting.

Exclusive three-star cards

This is the reason collectors chase them. Each volume includes three-star illustration rares that were never printed in Japanese or English. Volume 5, for example, carries exclusive art of Captain Pikachu, Floragato, Crocalor and Quaxwell. The rest of the three-star line-up reprints popular illustration rares from recent English sets, so you also get a second chance at cards that are expensive in English.

Pull rates

The published rate for three-star cards is about one per box on average, and community openings land close to that. Two-star stamp cards show up several times per box. The language-exclusive cards are the rare ones: expect one every five or six boxes, which is why singles from those sell for real money.

Authenticity

Genuine Gem Pack cards carry the Gem Pack series logo on the card face. Ours come from authorised Chinese distribution, box sealed.
